Questions people ask

Straight answers about what this site is, what it isn't, and how your information is handled. Open one question at a time.

? Is Plan Decoder part of the NDIS or the government?

No. Plan Decoder is independent. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the NDIA, the NDIS Commission, or the Australian Government. For official information, always check ndis.gov.au.

? Is it free?

The tools, worksheets, and course modules are for members. Membership is a low yearly cost that keeps Plan Decoder independent, with no government money, provider sponsorships, ads, or data selling. You can still read how the NDIS works, the glossary, and this FAQ without joining.

? Can I pay for membership with my NDIS funding?

No. Membership is a personal purchase. It is not an NDIS support, so it cannot be paid for from plan funding.

? Where does my information go?

Nowhere. Everything you type stays in your browser, on your device. We have no servers that receive it. There are no analytics and no tracking. Clearing your browser data removes your saved work, so print or save anything you want to keep.

? Will using these tools get me more funding?

No tool can promise that, including this one. Anyone who promises funding outcomes is misleading you. What these tools do is help you organise your own information clearly, so the professionals who support you can do their jobs with a fuller picture. Funding decisions are made by the NDIA and are discretionary.

? Does this site assess me?

No. Nothing here assesses, scores, or diagnoses anything. Every summary these tools create is built only from words and numbers you entered yourself. Nothing is added or interpreted.

? Can I use the printed summaries as evidence?

You can share them with anyone you choose. They are participant-provided information, in your own words. They don't replace professional reports, but they can sit alongside them and help professionals understand your day-to-day reality. Each summary says clearly what it is and where it came from.

? Who is this site for?

NDIS participants, people thinking about applying, and the family and carers who support them. It is written in plain language and designed for people with fluctuating capacity, ADHD, autism, psychosocial disability, and cognitive fatigue.

? Is the information up to date?

Every page shows a "last reviewed" date in the footer. NDIS rules change, and there have been big reforms since 2024. If something here conflicts with what ndis.gov.au says today, trust the official source and let us know. See our commitments for how we keep content reviewed.

? How do I delete what I've entered?

Each tool has an erase button that removes its saved information from your device. Clearing your browser's site data also removes everything at once.

? Can this site give me advice about my plan?

No. This site gives general information and organisation tools, not advice. For advice about your situation, talk to your LAC, support coordinator, or a professional who knows you. Free independent advocacy is available through the Disability Advocacy Finder.

? Something on the site is wrong or confusing. What do I do?

Tell us. We treat plain language and accuracy as promises, not decorations. See our commitments.
